The factors which cause facial acne are responsible for formation of body acne. Thus body acne is caused due to excessive dead skin cells, overactive oil glands and acne causing bacteria. Oil and dead skin cells are mainly responsible for the infection of body acne, as they trapped within the follicle, or pore, and create a blockage. Due to the invasion of bacteria, the blockage develops into acne. Body acne is most commonly found on the back and upper torso of the body, which contains more sebaceous glands per square inch when compared to others areas of the body. Mechanical obstructions like tight-fitting clothing, backpacks, purse straps and athletic pads or gear causes friction on the body, which is responsible for further infection of the body acne. Sweat too plays a major role in developing infected acne. Thus body acne can be prevented by taking bath as soon as possible, after finishing exercise, in order to avoid sweat. Mechanical obstructions must also be avoided to prevent body acne.
